Cinder is my anxiously awaited Sitka son. I have big plans for this boy and have enjoyed every minute as we start out on our adventure.
Cinder was the independent pup of his litter. Looking most like his dad and reminding me most of Sitka when introduced to wings and birds, he was an easy pick. He transitioned to life in the crazy Mackey household with ease during a Thanksgiving pit stop on our way back to Colorado. Surrounded by adult dogs, young children, and a dozen new people, Cinder proved his sound temperament at 9 weeks old. Once home to Colorado, the little Munchkin shone. He made fast friends with Sitka and Riot, a respectful puppy that didn’t push boundaries once they were established in his “pack”. He is by far the easiest puppy I have ever housebroken. Earning bed rights at 10 weeks old, he slept through the night without accidents in record time. He is easy in the crate and easy in the house. He is also our resident talker. Cinder is my first vizsla to have the ever-endearing “ROOO” – Thanks mama Zoey! As he has grown, it has been fun watching his parent’s mannerisms come out. He roos like his mama, wiggles himself in circles like his dad, and is a natural snuggle bug that has never met a stranger.
And then there is the business side of Cinder. At 7 months old Cinder Puppy became DUAL POINTED! He has been a natural in the field with beautiful conformation that has been recognized in the show ring. He made his show debut at 6 months old and won Winners Dog his first weekend out for his first CH point. He followed that with a successful road trip collecting several WD/BOWs to close in on "singling out". After taking the Fall and Winter off to chase birds and run Field Trials, Cinder hopped back in the show ring for a weekend during FT season and picked up BOTH his Majors to finish his Championship! On birds, Cinder is all point. His work ethic reminds me of his dad, so serious about his job. He is confident in the field, showing his future potential in seeking out likely objectives several hundred yards away. I smile every time I cut Cinder loose in the field. He is bold, powerful, independent, intelligent, forward, and stylish and steady on his birds. He has earned his Puppy points towards his FC/AFC and at just shy of a year old won the NVA's Gary Jagoda Derby Classic, qualifying him for future American Field Championships down the road. During his first full season with Brian Gingrich, Cinder picked up his major, all of his retrieving points, a Top 10 ranking in the VCA Open list and just one point shy of his Dual Championship. He's so close! I can't wait to see this boy continue to succeed.
As a hunting dog, Cinder has that knack of transitioning between field trial range and working for the gun. He is a smart dog on the ground, having several hunting seasons under his belt from Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas, tackling everything from scaled quail to pheasants to prairie chickens. He is also at home in a duck blind, and while he hasn't had the opportunity to tackle geese, he will in the future! In the summers, Cinder puts his love of water to good use and enjoys dock diving and working on his water retrieves. This boy has all the pieces of a versatile gun dog and continues to give his dad a run for his money!
Cinder is available at Stud to approved bitches!
