Gypsy Girl! Gypsy is my long-awaited line bred Sitka pup. She is more than worth the wait.
I could not have created a better match for Denali had I tried. Perrin is her compliment in structure, temperament, style, and biddability. He is her match in desire, drive, love of water and personality. And Gypsy embodies all of that. Gypsy picked up every good thing from her pedigree. She is the very first pup that I have kept from one of my home-raised litters. It has been an absolute joy to watch her develop, showing pieces of each of her parents, grandparents, and great grandparents, all wrapped into one. She is her own pup and won’t stand in anyone’s shadow.
Gypsy entered the competition world with gusto and declared she’d be a force to contend with! She earned her Puppy points, her Championship, and her Junior Hunter (in one weekend) all in the span of three months. She has turned heads both in the show ring and in the field -- as hard charging in front of a horse as she is gorgeous around the ring. She walked into the show ring as a 4-month-old pipsqueak and won a big Puppy Sporting Group her first time out. Her next show was just past her 6-month-old mark, and she won a BIG Specialty Best of Winners for a 5 point major! To keep the ball rolling, she then went on to WIN the VCA National Specialty Sweepstakes, going Best in Sweeps under breeder judge Linda Durham in very thick competition. That same week she won the Open Bitch class at Nationals, and the 6-9 month Puppy Class at the Regional – all at 8 months old. In the field, she’s undeniable. She is far reaching, confident in her range, her legs and her nose, and always shows to the front. She earned her first placements in large (15+) Open Puppy stakes and then hit her stride, winning three puppy stakes in a month. She matches all of that talent with a can do, engaging, enthusiastic, up for anything attitude that makes her an absolute blast to train in every venue.
Like her mama Denali, Gypsy is a springboard. She hangs out on bar stools and makes herself at home on any high perch. She has a love of water and swimming that makes me excited for her first season as a duck dog. She’s fast and forward on the ground, has no quit in pursuit of game, but still handles kindly and shows the intelligence expected from a much older, seasoned gun dog. She has a fantastic nose, beautiful style on point, and a natural, snappy, retrieve. This girl can do it all, and is always up for the next adventure.
I am more than excited to see where this girl takes me! If her first year is any indication, the sky is the limit and it’s going to be a VERY fun ride!
