Rudy, or Rutabaga when things get exciting, is one of our Veggies out of Vixen and Reggie.
We'll call him his owners' gateway drug. Rutabaga went home as "just a pet" and somehow changed all of our lives. He's earned Ben and I some of our closest friends, and we could not love the boy enough for it.
Rudy is a talented boy, defining the versatile vizsla. Sired by a NAVHDA Versatile Champion out of our MamaDog Vixen, the boy has the pedigree behind him to excel at just about anything -- and he does.
Rudy is a hard charging bird dog with tremendous bird drive. He has high style on point like his mama Vixen, can stretch out to the horizon on those legs of his, and has his dad's brain in finding and holding birds. He is a natural retriever, a fish in the water, and loves to get to work. His high drive makes him forgiving in training -- if a bit of a handful ;) Rudy had a successful juvenile career, earning his Puppy points, placing in numerous Derby stakes, easily earning his JH in one weekend, and his NAVHDA Natural Ability prize. He is an absolute joy to watch in the field, and makes you sit up in the saddle to do just that. We are excited to watch him develop into a finished Gun Dog in the coming years and can't wait to see him tackle his Dual Championship.
Switching to the show ring, Rudy finished his Championship in big ways. Our point schedule here in Washington is one of the highest in the country, and Rudy earned each and every point towards his Championship by winning against tough competition with our friend Kryssi. He finished his Championship with his mom Laurel at the Puget Sound Vizsla Club's Specialty Show, and I could not be more proud to watch it happen. He is a clean mover, moderately built, and honest in the ring.
While he isn't related to Sitka (AT ALL!), Rudy reminds me more of Bug than many of his kids and grandkids, combined. That's probably the highest compliment I can give any vizsla. He will greet each new person he meets with a fold in half wiggle and an attempted kiss, if given his way. He is vocal when he's excited, talks like his mama Vixen, has a derp face second to none, and will lean against you to snuggle when the day is done. The boy has it all, and I love every chance I get to steal (I mean share) him.
